The tone that seems to awake something in Dale at the restaurant was around 430hz. If I'm not mistaken that's the same frequency in Ben's office.

We know that sound and frequencies are extremely important and that the 5th dimension the otherworldly being is using to access our world is frequency/vibration.

You know what else makes a healing sound at 430hz?

Actually the note is about 587hz (a D note).

But all is not lost... I am told that Tibetan singing bowls come in different tones (for each chakra) and that the D note is used to "eliminate all fear in relation to action".

?

Thanks for this; a very exciting discovery!

Coop would be exposed to a steady dose of 430hz if he could somehow get to the Great Northern.  The Great Northern was certainly a place where Cooper had a connection to the lodge spirits.  Maybe the place itself is the key to waking him up.

That would make sense and give the sound a purpose!

Thanks for "chiming" in on the theory ?

The SHoTP depicts the falls by the Great Northern as place with mystical properties.  There's another hint about the place when Johnny hitts the wall with his head. When he is laying on the wall floor there is a picture of the falls right next to him.

440 hz is standard A above middle C, or concert pitch.  A "mathematically derived" tuning of A would be 430.54hz.

Wikipedia has a page on tunings over history, for the interested few:

Side note: The older Tibetan singing bowls had meteorites as one of their mix of metals......when the leaden blob appeared above the space where Dougie's head used to be, I laughed out loud and said "meteorite" at the T.V.

It did look rather like a meteorite, come to think of it... though it also looked a bit like the Arm's new head. And then got squashed into a disk. And then. And then.

Back on Tibetan bowls, their eerie, pure sound is actually made up of harmonic overtones. Just like the hum at the Great Northern. Eb/Bb as far as I can make out, or the other way round. (Not, sadly, 430Hz either.)

I'm a little worried if it's the Great Northern's tone that will ultimately wake him up.  I say that because one logical conclusion to the series would be for Cooper to walk into room 315 and somehow realize that he's been laying there on the floor ever since the season 1 cliffhanger; and that Laura's death was never solved and all of this that we've seen since Josie shot him was just an elaborate dream sequence.

Hopefully that's too hard to pull off since the characters have aged, but theoretically that would open the door for further exploration of the original question about who killed Laura Palmer.

Oh I'm right there with you.  I will feel betrayed if that's how this all ends.

I don't think it will though.  I don't think Lynch came back just to do that.

4:30 was also the time Andy was supposed to meet the truck owner to talk about who was driving it when it ran over the little boy.

Fascinating theory, but the 4:30 time at Andy's missed appointment is much stronger. Most of all because it's the only moment in 11 hours that we hear Laura Palmer's theme.  That music in that scene is basically telling us there has been a murder!

I don't think it'll turn out to all be a dream, because he would need to have also dreamt the entirety of the Secret History of Twin Peaks book. And the whole of Hastings' blog.
