I'm ecstatic and incredibly intrigued with Lynch/Frost's Return (quite unbelievable that we're getting this opportunity) but I've found myself missing the old no-cream-corn lady and the boy magician once to often not to mention it here, to the only people who would care.

Mrs Tremond / Chalfont (Frances Bay) is still kicking, age 92.
The boy magician is no longer a kid . ?
That's Austin Lynch, one of David's sons, aka the Evolution of Mrs Tremond's Grandson.
There are still a fair few episodes to go 😉
Right, OL. I would have liked to see her at 92 and the boy magician has been recast before. Strange how in 18 hours there is still not enough time to get to everyone. But, I wouldn't give up the sweeping, a-bomb, fly pursuit, etc. alive-dead-time sequences. As is, seems delicately balanced.

Hi pynchjan,
I was just fooling around a bit, not implying by any means that Frances Bay couldn't came back because she's too old for that. And of course, it wouldn't be hard to recast the grandson's character.
Frances Bay passed away 6 years ago.
Thanks for the update, TP. Following up has revealed that she moved to South Africa in her 20s, which heartens me by bringing the Lynch world in contact again (after the Thomas Eckhardt character and Afrikaans dialogue in season 2) with my home country. Small (strange and wonderful) world.

How do we know we haven't seen her grandson already??? I mean there is an odd/kind of eccentric older male character who seemingly does magic
As some speculate, if Red is the grandson, then he is back, just not in that traditional role (yet). I would like to see them as well. I'm hoping they will make an appearance and I hope their presence in the convenience store in FWWM foreshadows a more important role in the bigger TP story.
Then what would the age difference be between Red and Shelly?
I at least really, yllaer hope we see a return of the pointy nosed masks!
Then what would the age difference be between Red and Shelly?
Shelly was very young (for a married woman) in the original series. It was implied (stated outright?) that she dropped out of high school to marry Leo, so she may have only been 18 or so. So when Shelly is somewhere 17-20, the grandson looked like he may have been 9-13 or so, I'm guessing. So the difference is as little as a few years to perhaps over a decade.

My apologies. My mistake. She died at the age of 92.
Back when they appeared the first time I got a Tremonds/Chalfonts vibe from the drug addicted mom and the child in Vegas. I thought there were some similarities, not necessarily that they were the same characters. But other than that I have been a Tremonds/Chalfonts pessimist since before the show started, even though they've always been among the top characters/things I want to know more about. There were no mentions of them (or someone you might associate with them) in the book and that was a far better context to give some background about them. Also there were some tricky things about bringing their characters back, especially in regard to Lodge spirits aging or not, and you had to recast the grandma and possibly both of them, so since they're not really essential I guess it won't be much of a surprise if they are not part of season 3.
