Jerry Horne is lost in the woods and it's been a while now.  Normally there's nothing particularly weird and all could be due to the amsterdam's herbal movement and creative flight he's into... Still,  there's a factor I don't overlook here: The woods.

Jerry is saying something like < You can't fool me, i've been here before > ( correct me if i'm wrong). And this line, said in middle of the woods which is where there is the entrance of the black lodge and who knows probably of the white lodge as well,  makes me wonder a lot - since the fact that time in the lodges goes differently has been suggested in the series.

We know the balance between the two lodges is in danger (it's in our house now), my pick is Mr. C being the main reason. Can this fracture in the balance be the cause of timeS overlapping?  I also question if it's just a coincidence that the Log Lady (living in a house in The woods) is reapeating herself in the last two episodes.

Ultimately, WhatTF is happening in The Woods of Twin Peaks, and is It going to happen in the town soon?

Ezekiel,

You've brought up a lot of good stuff. I won't respond to some of it, because, frankly, I'm not steeped well enough in Twin Peaks lore (or even seasons 1 and 2) to converse coherently about it. In my household, my partner is the huge Twin Peaks fan. I've only really been along for the ride, except for The Return, which I am enjoying immensely (hence the reason I've joined this forum).

Anyhow, what I will say is, I think you're on to something with the whole 'Jerry Horne in the woods' subplot. Initially, I dismissed it just a strange Lynch thing, but your post made me remember how I'd initially dismissed the Dr. Jacoby shovel arrival/shovel painting subplot as just one of those strange Lynch things that was meaningless and wouldn't go anywhere, only to have it explained fairly.

Now, it's debatable (at this point) whether or not the shovel subplot explanation is really all that crucial to the overall plot of The Return (I'd say no at this point), so the explanation we'll get for Jerry Horne being in the woods could be equally as insignificant. But it's good that you've brought it up, as poor Jerry is definitely having problems out there!

They did so frequently say in Seasons 1 and 2 that there's something strange in the woods. I haven't thought much about Jerry's journey--except my worry that maybe the whole show will turn out to be a bad drug trip he's on (like the forum member who suggested maybe it's all Cooper dreaming in Room 315). I'll think more on your post.

One non-Jerry thought I had about the woods and the fire that the Log Lady and the map warn about is: Maybe there will be a huge forest fire??

Other thought: Maybe Jerry will just happen to witness Truman, Hawk, etc. finding the circle of Sycamore trees, and he'll see the red curtains and think he's just tripping and it'll just be Lynchian comedy. Or maybe Jerry will actually somewhat accidentally play a role in saving people from doom?

Also that first frame of the woods and the mountain at the beginning of the episodes could mean something.

I guess we  have to wait and see

I keep repeating this because it comes up in a lot of scenes as a thread for me. After 10/2 stuff gets weird in TP if the time lines appear to be what they are. Jerry' foot talking to him with subtitles implied to me that he ended up with a possessed foot just like Mike had a possessed arm. So maybe he is in and out of control of himself, hence the shouting to something about not fooling him as he has been there before as he fights that possession. I know Lynch in 1 and 2 hinted at drug and alcohol use / abuse being a way to be susceptible to entities from the lodges and maybe Jerry's new hybrid left his defenses two weak right when things awaken.

One thing to note with this timeline is Jerry's phone hasn't lost its charge yet so there is a timeframe this has to exit within and it may not be as long as it feels in viewing.

This is a tough one, because there is certainly a lot of weirdness in the original series that is "weirdness for the sake of weirdness". Especially as DL distanced from the series, this became dominant and self-referential, and one of the ways in which the show declined (thankfully, no "what strange convention seeks to be taking place at the Great Northern today" trope in TPTR). But DL DOES like to through wrenches and red herrings (ouch! Eww!)- I will be delighted and SHOCKED if the "congressman's dilemma" does not turn out to be one of them. But Jerry in in woods, and Jacobi on the MOUNTAIN, have gotten too much precious screen time to be fluff.

I agree, Jeffery M. Thompson, that on 10/2, many lines will intersect. I also hope that our questions about time lines and time shifts ("Is this future, or is this Part") will become clearer.

I really hope Jerry's antics DO become relevant!

I don't think Jerry has been missing for that long, we got only two or three scenes and they don't necessarily follow the timeline of the other events (plus the whole Twin Peaks' arc might not necessarily proceeds in a linear and chronological order). But yeah, I've been saying it since we found out he got lost in the woods: almost everyone who's had supernatural experiences in Twin Peaks was in the woods when it happened; pretty much everyone who got lost in the woods had some Lodge-related adventure. He doesn't seem to be near the usual gate to the black lodge (Glastonbury Grove), since the place where he is looks like a mountain while Glastonbury Grove and the owl cave seems to be in some kind of plain (even in the various maps of TP those locations are at the bottom of a mountain). My guess is he might in the place Hawk and Truman are looking for, considering that Hawk says that it should be in the Blue Pine Mountain.

I have to update this because after Sarah's loop scene and the revelation by Bobby that we are still on the same day of the discovery of major briggs papers,  i strongly believe Twin Peaks is into a time vortex
