Might it not be what Becky thinks (or not what WE think)? Gersten is in her mid-late 30s. Steven and Becky look to be in their early 20s (despite the fact that Amanda Seyfried is in her 30s, as well). Was he there for a drug buy, an affair, or something else entirely?

@mad-sweeney , I thought about that as well! Sounds like someone called Becky to gossip about seeing Steven with Gersten and she might have jumped to this conclusion.

On the other hand, Steven is quite the sleaze-bag, we have no concrete reasons to counter the idea he might be having an affair with someone else.

Nothing concrete, I agree. But he's gross and Gersten is to my mind still that innocent good-girl playing "Get Happy" on the piano for Leland Palmer. Add in the fact that she's dressed almost exactly like Darya, and I wonder whether she's playing Steven somehow, for something other than a run of the mill affair. Also, it being a mere affair feels too obvious. I tend to doubt the obvious with this show.

On another related subject, I just noticed Daria/Gersten are wearing a similar shade of pink to the 3 casino women.

I wonder if there's a parallel there. Where the Casino women seem to always be drifting in and out of their minds (particularly Candie), the women in pink jackets seem to be more actively involved in their own lives - we don't know much about Gersten yet, but we do know Daria was working with someone to bring Mr. C down. She may have gotten killed in the process, but she seemed to know exactly what she was doing.

All we need now is another redhead in black tight clothes and a pink bomber jacket.

Someone in a spanish group (join us if you speak spanish!) has just noticed that the clothes of Gersten Hayward and the girl who Cooper kills in the second part are the same (including the necklace). Is it just a joke, an easter egg or maybe are we talking about another prostitution net like we saw in the original tv show?

Freakishly similar.   Can't be a coincidence.

When I first saw the scene under the stairs, I thought it WAS Daria, but then I'm like "wait, she's dead. Who the heck is this "doppelganger" of hers?"

So glad you posted that.  Thank you!

When I saw it, my first thought was "Who the hell is that woman?" Then when I saw Alicia Witt's name listed next to Gersten's, I still didn't realise. Only when I watched the episode again did I guess that the woman next to Steven was Gersten...

I bet she has an ulterior motive. I mean, if the series has taught us anything it's that Donna loved to take investigations into her own hands. Perhaps Gersten is doing the same, trying to foolhardily bring down the drug-smuggling operation in TP?

Who called Becky to tell her that Stephen was with Gersten?

Another observation from that scene: Steven looks relatively cleaned up. Better than he's looked in any scene so far, including the job interview with Mike.

Steven seems to have gone over the edge, just now seeking revenge on Becky, headed into Mr. C territory, but not sure hes got that much ruthlessness or sheer evil in him(given what we saw in the job interview and the scene in the car with Becky); looks like its not going to turn out well for him, also Bobby is after him.......

I assume she is only there from a story standpoint to tell us where Donna is.

-Why'd  you turn to drugs?

- my sister Donna died and I never got over it.

We're now coming up to episode 11. I can't see a new complicated storyline evolving with Gersten which implicates her with Mr C. Or some other villain, unless she's a throwaway goodie turned bad or some such.

I think she's just included for nostalgia and to appease fans.

IMO 🙂

Note the blue lighter in Steven's hand. Could be doing horse with her (worse than coke) in lieu of having an affair.
