Did Albert try to speak with Gordon in code?

At Detective Dave Macklay's office after the field trip to the portal. It seams like Albert is trying to talk with Gordon in code but Gordon is too shaken (literally) to notice.
Albert says:
"We supposed to get some Coffee, But I don't think it's a good idea. Maybe some warm milk? For the Cat...On the tin how roof."

What if "Coffee" and "Warm milk" are two options they have to deal with the portal that they have found?

Oh... that's awesome.

Maybe he was signalling that Diane has flipped.

Albert shows her the photoshopped photo with fake co-or to capture EvilCoop.

Noice! I think you are onto something.

Like the Tamara Preston thing about her hand on the plane, what was that GC  story? Can't recall

I thought he was just trying to steer Gordon away from something that would make him more jittery.  I mean how much coffee can one man drink?  How does anyone in Twin Peaks sleep?

I do think they are drawing Diane out in that scene, but it was by showing the obvious picture of the coordinates and talking about the woodsman like they had never seen them before.  I really don't think they were surprised or thought it was a homeless guy.  I think they wanted to see if Diane could see them too.

I got the distinct impression they both were familiar with portals. Seemed to be searching for the entrance. Albert was in place to pull him back. Also Gordon's comment in ref to his hand shaking "Never happened before". Gordon obviously noticed the woodsman fading in and out. They knew what was there or at least had an idea.

I believe Gordon and Albert speak in code around 80% of the time. It was right after those comments that Gordon asked to see the photograph.

I think it was just a Lynchian conversation about Gordon's nerves. Very much like the flirty convo between Albert and the delightful coroner about marbles.

I noticed that when they saw that woodsman fade in and out Gordon specifically says something like "I saw it," or "I see it."  Significantly that the woodsman was an "it" and not a "him."  They recognized it as a creature, not a homeless man.

Yeah I noticed they used the word it.
Albert is studying Diane too intently for the photo not to be a set up.
But they may be giving her the real coordinates to attract all the actors to one place.

I associate coffee with Cooper. Could milk be Annie? I appreciate it's a stretch.

Did anyone else notice Diane mouthing something? I took it she was trying to memorize the coordinates.

I posted this on the other thread, but I think it fits here as well...

Also...  I've just watched the episode again, and there are still a few things niggling me:
She 's mouthing the numbers.  Gordon & Albert are hamming it up in the 'Oh, do you want to see the picture?' routine & she's doing the same - making it really obvious she's memorizing the numbers.

Going for a cigarette to text ?somebody.  Except she didn't go.  She had a perfect excuse to say 'Fuck you all and your lungs' and go outside - but she didn't.

So, who was this performance for? Are Albert & Gordon and Diane all going through some kind of display for their audience (Tammy & Mackley) or is there another reason for it?

The bit about the co-ordinates was when Tammy & Mackley were out of the room.  I'm thinking more along the lines that Diane has been bugged (and threatened that she must do it ) and they're all following a script to deliberately send information.

The 'something wrong' Gordon 'felt' when he hugged her may have involved noticing a wire, rather than any sort of intuition...

Yes, it is really in this episode that Gordon and Albert's long history with these types of cases becomes apparent. Cole had a way of acting, in earlier parts of the series, as though he was baffled and waiting for Agent Cooper to figure it out for him. The mystery of Twin Peaks is really what Major Briggs went there to study in the first place. It was something in that woods, and manifested in other places as well. Those men at the FBI all have a strong context for what they are now seeing. It is fascinating.

I love the wording in this.
"I saw it"

"Do you think we will find one"

They know the idea of these things well. Even how to find them in someone's front garden.

I have to look at the secret history but it seems anyone by portals gets fuzzy memories. The conversation around cigarettes and coffee seems like they are trying to remember something that is fading. Just like Hastings thought it was all a dream.

Coffee is black, milk is white. When suggesting milk, he might refer to Diane being good under cover of not giving Cole caffeine to jump his nerves further.

I agree with you on the coffee thing, Christen, but not really on the "I saw it" bit.  That could just as easily refer to the incident, not the person/thing that was there.  I'd probably say "I saw it", too.

If in doubt, it's an "It".  Incident, person, happening, thingy, anything unusual or unexplained is an it.  Nice and non specific.  You know they say a wrong guess is better - and usually safer - than a slow one?

With Gordon's hearing impairment, it's hard to know when he and/or others are really hamming it up, or if it's a by product of conversing with someone so hard of hearing.  Maybe it was a double bluff, the two of 'em hoping Diane would take it at face value, or, hoping she'd think they were trying to discuss something covertly, but were really having a perfectly innocent talk about coffee and milk.

You know, in the way that Lynch loves doing with all his stuff anyhow?
