Also a  driver who comes speeding up when he blows it!

Don't forget the super cool walkie-talkie that he uses to talk with police dispatch.

There is something up with this fellow...is he like a Book House Boy type vigilante?

That summoning whistle he had was really cool. It's almost like a high fantasy story where the leader of an underground group has means to call forth transportation. But it's set in a bum ass trailer park. I loved it.

I burst out laughing. In the middle of this really dire situation, Carl comes along and saves the day via the most unrealistic, unpredictable means imaginable.

But you accept it because it's Carl Rodd, and he's a badass. Particularly if you read the Secret History. I wouldn't be surprised by anything from him after tonight.

And I love that Carl has a mobile office in the back of that VW bus - coffee, cigarettes, direct radio line to police dispatch.  Carl Rodd has already been places, he just wants to stay where he is.   But if he has to travel, he does it in style.

Carl is cool, he's always been cool. And I got this feeling that Harry Dean Stanton isn't acting, he just is who he is in TP and in real life. And he's smoking for 75 years. Every fu***ng day!

Isn't a bit innapropriate to have a crush on 91 yo actor?:)

"I wanna dance with Harry Dean"

All I know is that if the forces of the Black Lodge or whatever other evil lurks out there wind up imprisoning Harry Dean, I want a gratuitous scene of him screaming through a chain-link fence to "Avenge me!!!!

Was the whistle a call back to Cooper's whittled whistle in Season 1? Or am I reaching?

Not sure if it's related but Cooper seemed to take a musical cue in the restaurant.  So there may be something to certain melodic tones or frequencies?   Also back in episode 8, the device that sent the Laura bubble thing to Earth looked strangely like a saxophone.

- and Windom Earle had a flute/ wooden recorder thing.
I can just imaging Jerry gamboling around the woods with a set of pan pipes!  😉

I was looking for a video of that. A picture will do!

That was a great scene.  His compassion and concern and his matter-of-fact manner was a nice touch.

Pretty sure the walkie-talkie is a citizen band (CB) radio.  It can change frequencies, including to frequencies that police use or monitor.
