We can always count on you for the DEEPEST dive, Murat! (-;

AND- it seems, from the brothers' point of view, that Candie is a charity case, as opposed to (or, perhaps, in addition to) being a "slave". Knowing now that the brothers were raised in an orphanage, I suspect that that is where Candie came from, as, without them, she "has no where to go" (it seems unlikely that she can care for herself).

I would argue that it is definitely 'in addition to slavery', while it is a stretch to call this slavery, the door to it is being opened here which leads necessarily to slavery, right now we see the specter of impending future slavery in these scenes, that is on the way; and I think Lynch's intuition hit on this truth, with the crippled Dougie, etc., brilliant.  Johnny's situation is much closer to slavery proper, which is having your body possessed by another, since he is tied up....with integration of brains into digital network(robot teddy bear) and the elimination of jobs with technology, people will literally be forced to engage in slave labor to survive, via charity of billionaire bosses, similar to role of Mitchums here, who collect all the surplus from all of their lifes struggles, search for love, etc., which are crushed via the network to service the debt and pay the 'gracious bosses' for taking car of a charity case, making the entire state, economy, and all the people their property.  So charity as the only way to survive goes along with slavery and not being able to have a free existence where you are self supported, possess your own brain and body, have free access to conditions of independence(profession(productive role, etc.), healthcare, shelter etc.).  Charity here is not some temporary help, but the accompaniment of reducing her to having no freedom, not even recognizing that this aspect(search for true love) exists in her, and her having nowhere else to go, etc.  This is what the 'dougie' prototype was all about, manufactured when Hastings discovered 'the zone' with his research, Mr. C/billionaires got scared they would lose control over access to 'infinite' which can change their slavery grasp on people, state, etc., so they manufactured Dougie, the docile idiot fooled by the quirkiness, losing his life in a vegas cesspit trying to pretend he is a 'big boss' or could ever be one......

What we are seeing with Candie is not yet slavery proper, but opening the way that necessarily leads to it.  It is denying Candie a free existence, to the point where it is not even recognized by anyone that she, or anyone else, has a right to this; and the same thing happened to Hastings for engaging in a search for truth/knowledge and true love, he got killed for trying to act as a free dignified person by Mr. C/billionaire mafia......and I absolutely appreciate this even appearing in twin peaks, because these things are happening in real life already and are a future, freedom is now literally a danger to the economy and must be eliminated(makes you think, find a better economy,  etc.), freedom is a threat since it would not live under slavery once it knows dignified life, and a free life would refuse to take charity and be a slave to service profit margins which take out debts on the future then take people's future/life/freedom to force this to pay off.

Its really a tragedy whats happening with Candie, and its covered over by the 'qurikiness' of the Mitchums,  and this is happening systematically, every day....and this is where I think people were catching on by associating her with Laura.  Laura was the 'prototype' with 'no way out', trapped by the community, tortured, etc., and no one aside from Bobby even recognized her situation even though she was always 'calling out for help', much like Candie.  Solving Laura's problem unlocks the general problem, etc....just like BOB generalized into woodsmen, etc.

A piece of Hawk's map has three birds. I was thinking about Candie, Mandie & Sandie being three birds. But the Giant says "two birds with one stone". I wonder if that could literally mean two birds are with one stone - Mandie and Sandie are birds, Candie is the stone.

The three dolls appear about equally stoned to me, TCIL.

You forget that the Bellushi Mitchum had the DREAM. Think that is why they embraced Dougie the way they did. He is not their enemy but their friend. Hopefully I am remembering this correctly need to watch again...

Belushi's character realizes the dream was deeply important, he strongly remembered the dream because he was supposed to receive the message to treat "Dougie" as a friend & not kill him, the pie was the sign. Mike & others are watching out for Coop.

I hadn't considered the idea that the dream was sent by Mike and Pro-Coop lodgers. I like this idea.

It sure was. That's one of the ways they have to manipulate/influence us simple 4 dimension beings.

What are the fourth and fifth dimensions to which you refer?  Regrettably, I live only in three dimensions (albeit augmented by my Dr. Jacboby sunglasses.)

MJ, that's a neat suggestion re: the wave gesture. Candie's, Mandy's and Sandy's pink dresses are also rather reminiscent of the cool colors in the purple sea and castle interior, no?

The fourth is generally considered to be time.

If you live outside of that, you'll age better then the rest of us 😀

AH, I see. Thanks, Mynok.  No, I'm dying, little by little, all the time. Hence The Return is profoundly poignant to me...

Candie's headpiece is on the right, whereas Mandie and Sandie wear theirs on the left.

Rodney Mitchum clearly says "Annie... Candie... Annie".

Didn't Norma once say of Annie:

"She comes from another time and place.  She would struggle in the real world".

Don't recall that line, but she had chosen to live in a convent, unable to deal with some harsh realities of life ( we know she had attempted suicide at some point before that ).

=> just like Audrey, Diane gave birth to Mr. C's spawn.

Where did I read the theory that Linda was brought to an orphanage by a traumatized Diane and ended up with the Mitchum brothers taking care of her?

Am I the only one thinking that Candie's antics in episode 13 suggest that actually she doesn't have much more about her..?

Wait...what Linda?  The won who is living in Carl's trailer park with the husband that wants to smoke but quit?

Episode was titled "The Condemned Woman"

(Norma):  You know, when she was little, I always used to think that Annie was from another place and time.

I think like Cooper,  at some point Candie was in the room with the fireplace and the American Girl and her brain was fried by the electrical field around outlet 3 just like Coopers was (listen to the sound as the power fades). Watch episode 10 of Candie chasing the fly then go to  episode 3 and watch Cooper right after the American Girl says "When you get there you'll already be there".
