There is definitely something up with Candie now that can't be denied or just written off as a bit of Lynchian imagery. Her being a manifestation of lodge character, possibly the Giant or Laura for me

Yep. I was waiting for Coop to see Candie and then have some sort of epiphany.

She seems to do the opposite from the other 2 - when they're concentrating, her eyes drift off & vice versa...

I was waiting to see and thought it was building towards her touching him but it never happened.

Candie scene was impressive, she was looking again for love, then genuinely moved by the lack of care shown by the Mitchums, who are looking more goofy in this episode(Bellushi playing left arm, other guy playing right), they shouldnt care about Dougie that much, it is a business relationship about money, getting him friendly to use later is one thing, but they really shouldn't have been that intrigued by him, take the money, give him pie, get the freak out of there.   Nice music sets the tone here, with the switch from enjoyment to melancholia: Dougie says 'damn good' just like agent cooper used to, but then nothing, something is missing with cooper, the enjoyment isnt sticking, just emptiness/no stars, then he stares off into space in melancholia, problems not fixed(laura/old twin peaks), so nothing to sustain that old 'quirky' enjoyment for the pie, but miriam lives barely, so theres some hope.   For Candie, she was trying to get their attention with being late and the traffic enjoyed for a second playing with their attention, then switch to melancholia when they gave the attention to Dougie the 'jackpots/millions man'.  A great scene, Candie is turning out to be a great character....and without her the Mitchums are headed for melancholia....

You forget that the Bellushi Mitchum had the DREAM. Think that is why they embraced Dougie the way they did. He is not their enemy but their friend. Hopefully I am remembering this correctly need to watch again...

Belushi's character realizes the dream was deeply important, he strongly remembered the dream because he was supposed to receive the message to treat "Dougie" as a friend & not kill him, the pie was the sign. Mike & others are watching out for Coop.

ok first of all, i'd like to apologise for my english (i'm french)

what about this connexion ? :

Candie, Chocolate Bunnies (as we can see them in episode 4 "is it about the bunnies ?") on this chocolate box we can see 2 eggs, one with zebra lines and one with straigth lines.

Candie is almost like a bunny too (like the waitress in Playboy club) the same kind of waitress that we can see in the One Eyed Jack.

There's another reference with bunnies when Bobby, Hawk  and Sheriff Truman find Major Briggs note : "the Jack Rabbit Palace".

In fact, and just like Lucy said "it's about the rabbit"

Candy almost sounded like an excited puppy.   Lynch has used rabbits before so I wouldn't leave anything off the table here.

Candie was also so glad giving Dougie more cherry pie!

Her role is even bigger than it seems, no doubt.

The Mitchum brothers having dealt with Candie and the other girls odd, near-catatonic state for who knows how long has primed them to be able to deal with Dougie. He may seem perfectly normal to them.

I guessed she was Laura or possibly Annie an episode or two ago, as many probably did.  Just googling the actress' name (Amy Shiels) revealed she definitely had a bigger part than just being a cute wallflower in a pink skirt.

Where it all goes, who knows?

She's seemingly Dougie-like in terms of not really responding to verbal cues and being socially awkward, but she has more of her natural faculties about her. She can form a complete sentence, even if she's just parroting what she's heard on tv or making seemingly disjointed observations about traffic.

And the way she followed around that fly - Dougie couldn't do that.  So it's not enough to simply say she is the same as Dougie.  There's more too her we can only guess at for now.

At one point last night I thought they actually called her "Annie", but going back and re-listening it sounded more like "Candie" the second time around.

Maybe her (slightly) more lucidity is down to Laura inhabiting her properly i.e. unlike Dougie/Coop who wasn't meant to exist so she's further along the procedure for want of a better term.

I like that Candie could maybe be Annie 🙂

As an aside, I thought when Jackpots lady came up to him and talked to him, that her interaction with him was reminiscent of Cooper and Laura scenes in the lodge/waiting room.
