The unofficial title of Episode 10 ("Laura is the One") seems to indicate that Laura might appear (or would be mentioned prominently) in this episode. She might've  played a role in waking up DougieCoop, for all I know.

However, the title ends up so misleading. Not only we don't see her (unless you count the opening monologue), but people barely mentioned her at all. The only time there was a reference to her when Gordon saw her in a flashback. I thought given the title, Laura should've been more prominent in this episode ?

When do you think we would finally see her and find out her exact role this season (as hinted in Episode 8)??

Laura will show up and play a part in waking Coop, but I think the confrontation between Good and Evil Coop will not lead to death, but a fusion.

Laura is the one simply for the fact that (obviously) she what will snap Cooper out of his dougieness.

Also, for this to happen, Cooper needs to be back at the lodge where Laura is, which will happen when the casino brothers come for him on some lynchian twisted scene (just like when 'the spike' tried to attack him and the arm/tree communicates with him from the lodge) this shows that there's still something connecting him to the place.... maybe Laura will appear to him this time.

What is left of the real Cooper is just the sphere that is at the lodge

If you think of it, everyone is in someway making their way to 'somewhere'.

Hawk, Truman and Bobby will be at the rabbit hole wich could very well be the lodge... which Hawk will then recognise once he gets there.. or maybe he knows it already but is keeping it to himself.

I honestly think there will be a moment connecting both Coops that will take Good Coop back to the lodge, which is what Major Briggs knows when and where.

Call me crazy, but I think somethng related to Laura is going on with that Candie girl from the casino.

  • in episode 1, Leland tells Cooper to "find Laura", suggesting she is missing somewhere.
  • Log lady's message talks about dying glow, but says Laura is the one and that the circle is almost complete
  • In an episode absolutely FILLED with images of people interacting with doorways/windows, we get the ultimate "WTF???" moment when Gordon opens his door to see the Laura apparition.  I believe these were from clips when Laura first learned her father was the killer
  • Then, we see "Candie" at the casino, only she's acting a little spacey.  She's not responding to verbal cues the way those around her suspect, and then we see her acting very confused out on the casino floor.  Jeez, who does that sound like?  Dougie.
  • I think there might be another clue here, in that this horrible, monstrous casino owner dude, who we've see violently assault his former floor manager, seems to be a softie when it comes to Candie.  "She's got nowhere else to go",  "C'mon Candie, it's okay, really!"  Who could turn the Grinch's heart?  Only "the one", right?

Also went looking after last night for the actress who plays Candie (Amie Shiels).  There's a few articles out there about her role (like everything else) being both highly secretive and her being hand-picked by Lynch's casting director for this particular part - which you can now bet your bottom dollar will be a lot more than her simply being "casino bimbo #1" or however you thought of her from the few artistic shots we'd have of her and her ensemble trio of pink ladies in prior episodes.

She matters - and I'm pretty sure it's connected to Laura.

Given the Becky scene (her character in part a direct reference to Laura), Gordon's vision, the Log Lady's monologue, and Rebekah del Rio giving us the Roadhouse's most direct Lodge imagery yet, I think "Laura is the One" is a perfect title. It sets her up to play a far more involved role in coming parts, if Frost and Lynch choose to play it that way. Even if they don't, her presence is felt throughout the episode.

In fact, coming after part 8, it only makes sense that Laura start to permeate the fabric of the show a bit more, at least on a thematic level--which is exactly what we are getting.

I think she was way more talkative than Dougie, especially when he was with the insurance guy, but you definitely might be into something, considering what has been reported in the "(Possible) Spoiler thread".

Laura was pretty terrified as she was being pulled out of the Red Room. She may have been pulled to safety and may have been unaware of the reason at the time.

However, now that it has been confirmed that Mr C is involved with the glass box in NY, she may have whispered in Cooper's ear the name of the one who kidnapped her.

Perhaps Mr C (or Bob or Even Jeffries) used the box to kidnap Laura and place her in a "zone" or dimension to hide her for a reason to be reveled later? Or, her soul could've been placed in someone else's body Like you're suggesting. Not sure it would be Candie but interesting thought.

Laura, again, needs to be saved, but is probably needed to annihilate Bob as well.

One thing struck me yesterday while pondering my second viewing of part 10.

If Laura somehow permeates the fabric, which I guess is one way of putting it, and appears in Twin Peaks or somewhere, but ends up returning to Twin Peaks, how would her mother react to seeing her again. The performances we've seen from both actresses over the time could prove breathtaking...

Just a thought...

But why *that* clip of Laura?  Why not edited so it wasn't immediately obvious that it had been lifted straight from FWWM?  That's what I find puzzling - it just jars a bit with the level of detail in the show.

(or they're deliberately scattering all these wee glitches just to keep us busy for the week between programmes!  😉  )

There was a rumored leak when they were still shooting "TP: The Return" which shows Cooper and a middle age blonde woman who looks like Sheryl Lee walking into a house (which is supposedly the Palmer's family house), then knocking the door.

We are nowhere near this point yet as Coop is still DougieCoop somewhere in Vegas and who knows where Laura is now, but I imagine if the scene exists, it would be screened towards one of the latter, if not the last episode. And God knows how Sarah would have behaved upon seeing her long dead daughter in front of her.

I guess we'll just have to stay tuned 🙂 🙂

I can think of several reasons:

They're trying to show that particular incident from FWWM has some kind of "Temporal Resonance"* that can somehow project through 25 plus years, or...

They are a set of cheap so and sos who hoped nobody would notice them trying to save a few quid here and there, or...

Frost and Lynch are laughing their bollocks off at yet another ploy to get the fans talking about a throwaway scene.

* Temporal Resonance = Something that sounded nice when I made it up and have absolutely no idea what I'm on about.

To be fair, all Mr C has to do is have a hair cut and change his clothes to appear more Dale Cooper like...

A bit of soap and water wouldn't go amiss, either.  He's a scruffy looking bugger.
