I am confused about coordinates

I'm hoping for some help with the coordinates.

Ruth and Hastings brought coordinates to Garland Briggs.  Are these definitely the same coordinates that BadCoop is searching for?

What about the coordinates on the Search for the Zone website?  The ones that lead to a place near Spearfish, South Dakota?  I don't think they can be the same coordinates that Ruth brought to Major Briggs.  Because Hastings maintains the website and only Ruth knew the coordinates.  Maybe they are the location where Ruth and Hastings found Major Briggs?

Is that where Hastings is going to take Gordon and Albert and Tammy and Diane?

Does the location near Jack Rabbit's Palace have anything to do with the coordinates?

I'm curious about all this because it seemed to me that Major Briggs needed those coordinates to take him to a place of safety.  And if they are the same coordinates that BadCoop is seeking, then for whatever reason he needs access to that sanctuary.

You aren't the only one! Mike and I spent a few minutes hashing through our differing understandings of this when we did our podcast this week (shameless plug: it's called Drink Full and Descend). I also mention that, though, because I know he watches as closely as I do, and we seemed to have different interpretations of the information the show has presented as with.

Here's my take: Bill and Ruth (and his assistant Betty?) found coordinates in an archive or whatever that led them to where Briggs was hibernating. I presume that is the set on thesearchforthezone.com. Then, Briggs asked them to find and bring him a second set of coordinates, they did, at which point Briggs head floated away and then Ruth was dead and Bill woke up in bed at home (clearly some details missing). Bill says he doesn't know those second coordinates, and that Ruth had them written on her hand. So who killed Ruth, and where is her body? If we presume that the second set are those that Mr C is after, that would mean that he didn't kill Ruth. (Also, if it were the first set, since it would seem Ruth was killed at that location), Ray was supposed to get the coordinates from Betty, and has said that he did and has them memorized. So, it is possible that he, or the Philip he is in contact with might have killed Ruth. And/or maybe there is some third set of coordinates.

The second (or third) set could maybe be Jack Rabbit's Palace. I could see that, but we don't know. It does seem fairly clear to me that Bill would be taking the FBI to where they found Briggs, though.

Must admit - I've been glossing over the co-ordinates quite a bit & hoping someone works them all out!
Are we assuming Heinrich Viegel  is a pseudonym for Ruth Davenport - or is that someone we haven't met yet?

I am thinking Heinrich Viegel is a distinct person, but I suppose we don't really know.

We haven't heard anything from Argentina in a long time. Some german scientists went there after WWII.

Wait a minute...what if Heinrich Viegel is the man in the glass box photo with Mr.C?

I have been thinking about that. Could be

I suspect there are multiple coordinates, and these will ultimately tie together the disparate locales of the show. The ones on the blog can't be the ones Mr. C is looking for him. WE found them on the blog, certainly HE would have been able to.

There are places where the walls are thin. Glastonbury Grove, Jack Rabbit's Palace, the place near Spearfish (which the Major was hibernating), the Glass Box (perhaps a CONSTRUCTED gateway, like the one Nixon was at in the book), perhaps Rancho Rosa, and the place Mr. C seeks (where he hopes to find the Experiment, which seems to be his long game, as evidenced by the fact that he seems to be behind the Glass Box.

I just flashed on the guy who attacked Dan Rather, yelling "Kenneth, what is the Frequency!?" Mr. C is looking for the frequency ("listen to the sounds"...).

Just reminded me of Bowie's track from Black Tie, White Noise, "You've Been Around":

"Where the flesh meets the spirit world,

Where the traffic is thin..."

I made an image based on that, a long time ago when I was still cutting my teeth with 3D stuff.

Perhaps I should update with a Twin Peaks reference thrown in.

I'm not sure Mr. C is behind the glass box, though that may be more a matter of me hoping that he isn't because that almost seems too simple, or makes him too much of a mastermind. He was there, though, so there must be some connection.

Relatedly, what happened to Experiment Model after she showed up and killed Sam and Tracy? And what happened to the guards that night? Was Tracy sent on purpose by someone and was this sex magic? (If it weren't for the Secret History, I would never have formed a question about sex magic, but...) I know these are questions that go all the way back to Parts 1 and 2, but they linger, and certainly connect to the question at hand about the coordinates, if we are thinking that the playing card shows Experiment and Mr C is looking for coordinates to find the same...

damn it, is it Sunday yet?

I think everyone is confused because we just don't know.

My guess is that there are mutliple  gateways to the "lodges" or...whatever else (since that purple/mauve world doesn't seem like a "lodge" outside).  And I think "Briggs" (or whatever has taken over him) is out there in the South Dakota entrance, since that's where Hastings/Ruth saw him.  What's really weird is that in Episode 2, we learned EvilCoop had met with Briggs, though this seems to be a reference to what Bobby mentions later when Cooper was the "last to see my father", and takes place after the doppleganger smashed up the mirror in his bathroom at the end of the original series while mockingly asking "how's Annie?"

(Unrelated note about that whole ordeal...was that Windom Earl's soul/energy that Bob used to create Coop's doppleganger?)

Jackrabbit's palace confuses me. Is that a reference to where Briggs was "abducted" or is it where Cooper entered the "Waiting Room" through the curtains (which Hawk has already seen as well the old Truman)?

Twin Peaks seems to be be where multiple openings occur, and it seems to be tied to the forest, celestial events, and that waterfall by the great northern.  But if South Dakota also has doorways/portals, it would stand to reason elsewhere might too.

For all we know,  Hawk's heritage could still play a role in how they find what is missing (which I still think in the end will be Laura) out there in the Dakotas. Wounded Knee is out there in S. Dakota, and if "fear" was a factor in opening the doorways, that might've been a triggering event.

Pretty sure Jack Rabbit's Palace has to be a "new" place, since where Cooper went in is called Glastonbury Grove and everyone seems to know that. I suppose there could be some connection to Briggs' disappearance. It could be that these are the coordinates Mr. C is looking for, though, since it seems to be a spot that only has a name to Bobby and Garland. But then Briggs himself must have been after some other set of coordinates... Yeah, it is all a bit confusing 🙂

Thanks everyone for your replies : )  I've enjoyed reading all your ideas.  It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one perplexed by this : )

Haven't been here for a few days, but I just noticed that the coordinates are gone from the website. Perhaps that's old news. There was someone who apparently owned the land there, that complained about people going there and disturbing the peace or something. Perhaps they took it down for that reason? (And yes, I  did look by marking with the mouse.)

Yeah, I would guess that they took them down because the people who owned the land complained, and not for any narrative reason.
