Did that stuffed animal remind anyone else of the Arm?

That thing was so creepy and so annoying. I really thought Richard was going to smash it and I am quite surprised that he didn't.

I suppose it could have been reminiscent of the arm.  But there is something else that it reminds me of and I can't pinpoint it. When they did the close up of it's bulbous head, something pinged in my brain but I just can't identify what it is.

It reminded me more of the dreadful alien thing from the Lost In Space tv show.  A gorilla suit with a diving helmet, ISTR.

Dunno, but I started to rewatch that scene and it's even creepier than the 1st time.  It does have an evolved arm like quality.

Other observations around that scene.

The cameraman seems to be intentionally holding the camera in an freeform way and it feels like a boat swaying.

There's also a little turquoise light dot that appears on his legs during that scene.

There's also what appears to me to be a subtle distinct blue / vibration at one point before his mother enters the scene. (around 24:54-55)

That bear is so annoying / creepy.  It looks like it has 5 human teeth in its mouth.  I'm glad Richard didn't destroy it, that would have been an endearing and redeeming moment for him.

I saw the blue dots, too.  I put it down to lens flare at the time but now I'm not so sure.

I got a feeling of Major Briggs without his head, the headless thing is getting repeated a bit now. But this did have a head but it was artificial for the original bear.....creepy so creepy and that was the secret phrase that was dropped in the commercial blog before the show even more creepy.

As creepy as a big bag of very creepy things, perhaps?  In much the same way as a "Sticky situation" could be "The stickiest situation since Sticky the Stick Insect got stuck on a sticky bun".

I'd like to see them get that line into Twin Peaks.

If you look carefully, there are 5 human teeth stuck in the bear's 'mouth opening'.  Maybe they're the teeth Johnny loses when he runs into walls?

But you'd need Rowan to go with it...

Somehow, Twin Peaks wouldn't be quite the same with Rowan pronouncing "Bob"

No one has ever managed to extract that much humour from the pronunciation of only three letters...

To me, it looks like a character from a David Lynch cartoon called Dumbland... just watch the first 5 seconds of this:

This robot teddy bear was a great addition to the scene, its voice remains the same, but the way it is thought/felt about changes as the scene unfolds, as the reality is disturbed.

Johnny has a lot of unresolved problems with Ben, which made him go mad in the first series('it runs in the family', Bens expectations coupled with his not caring at all about his family, Johnny didnt take this, but was too young and handicapped to deal with it).  Now Richard is playing the role of a psychotic young 'Ben', since from Johnny point of view it is another guy destroying his home life, harming the family, etc., and now in a more violent way than Ben probably ever did.

Somebody(either Ben or Richard) probably ripped off the head of Johnny's beloved childhood toy, and Sylvia then had it replaced with the robot head, and I think Johnny then drew the face(of the violent and obscene father from dumbland) and put his own teeth in there as he took on injuries over time, since every time he tries to regain the lost comfort of the childhood teddy bear, he is faced by the violent disruption of this by Ben and Richard, thus the obscene violent robot asking him how he is, not well to say the least, thanks to that robot teddy bear. Sylvia then proceeds to tie down Johnny the victim and forces him to look at this problem directly all day, this is all Johnny is allowed to do, so that thinking about the unresolved problem, the failure, makes him want to 'run wild'.  Sylvia makes Johnny into the victim and thinks the teddy bear will calm him down and return him to his lost childhood bliss(which is of course gone forever and burning him as an unsolved tragedy), while also seeking revenge against Ben by harming Johnny and constantly reminding him about the 'evil father'/richard who hurts poor Johnny.

From Johnny's 'point of view' all it does constantly directly confronting him with failures he is unable to rectify, like a torture constantly tearing him out of reality where he would work to resolve this problem(something like, you want to resolve this problems with Ben/Richard, well here it is unresolved, over and over forever, with no second to gain any distance from it).  This closeness to the failure results in the 'wild running': Sylvia locks up Johnny(makes sure he doesnt 'get out', solve the problem, etc.) and ties him up trying to make him nothing more than a breathing embodiment of her hatred for Ben/Richard, but Johnny is so traumatized by having this failure forced on him by everyone around him, that any chance he gets, he tries to engage in acting out and 'wild running' in a desperate attempt to break out of the deadlock or ignore it with wild enjoyment/acts, since he has no chance to actually rectify the problem, to resolve his issues with Ben, stand up to Richard, etc., since he is constantly tied up with the victim role forced on him.  This is much like how agent cooper acted out/went wild to hide his failure to save laura/maddie and find the ideal community in twin peaks, one side is the violent psychopath on a terror rampage(Mr. C/Richard), while the other is crippled and controlled by others(Dougie/Johnny).

Johnny finally gets a chance to confront Richard and wanted to desperately, but since he was tied up he was unable to do so.  The most brutal part of it was Sylvia coming over to him and not for one second recognizing what he was trying to do in order to help her, but just says poor Johnny, poor Johnny, back to the being tied up on the table and the teddy bear to 'help you', this is when Johnny looks crushed, about to cry, then his legs begin to make a running movement, trying to escape the same antagonism by acting out....very cruel scene for Johhny, much worse than what happened to Sylvia by far....

How are you today Johnny, How are you today Johnny, How are you today Johnny, How are you today Johnny........

Johnny forced into the red room constantly, staring at his version of 'the arm' and its doppelganger, both threatening him and telling him to 'squeeze his hand off' while he is tied up.....Johnny can run forcefully, wonder what would have happened if he was not tied up....
