This episode sure gave us a lot to think about: Mr C and the New York murder, Diane, Mr Todd and The Insurance guy, Richard Horne, Gordon Cole's vision of a creepy Laura.

But I find the thing about Diane most disturbing. So that scene in the prison was just an act? Cole said he felt it when she hugged him. He must be very sensitive. Just like the thing he told Tammy when he did that thing to Tammy's fingers.

That 'cheers to the FBI' thing did seem well overdone, and out of character for Diane's 'MO', although her performance in the interview room seemed genuine; maybe it is a mix of both of these 'aspects' of Diane, a blue rose, spiral into destruction, revenge, etc. I guess the 'conversation around the dinner table is lively' message was just a signal to 'get in' with Cole, et. al.....listen to their conversation; also we see now a proper dinner table with Cole, Tammy, Constance, Albert....

Also, what about the signal being traced originally to Mexico, indicating that Mr. C did not send that message? It would be someone interested in the coordinates of lodge/red room manifestations that distort reality.  Maybe some link to Jeffries here, or someone else, or is it just another false signal origin sent by Mr. C to deceive, although it seems like Cole has no trouble breaking encryption, or tracing the signal origin, so this seems not to be....?

I don't think it's a coincidence that Albert mentions Mexico and then, at the end, the singer sang parts of the song en español.

Team FBI have figured out Diane is a dobbleganger ad they did with Evil Coop I'm jail. Gordon says (something like) he confirmed it when they hugged (and probably also when they shared a smoke on the last episode). Which explain why she hates everybody, her manspreading, smoking and the many lovers she uses and discards. All opposites to the real good Diane (I presume).

Yeah I figure either she is just on the side of evil now, or a doppelganger, or has been doing her own investigation outside of the FBI.

I think it is most likely a secondary server (like when he enters the encrypted app in part 8-9) and it is being pinged from mexico but still very much from mr C

I already said that in other thread but I think Diane has been depraved by his beloved boss so she became his accomplice. However maybe deep in her heart she is still good person or at least she remebers the woman she used to be. That's why her performance during prison interview could actually be genuine as she obviously blames Cooper for that.

I think maybe Mr. C psychically planted something in her.  I think the interview room is sincere, as she appears to be conflicted.  I think there's some misdirection too, they want us to think it's messages from Mr. C, but it's quite possibly not, even though it looks like it is from the limited vantage point we've been provided so far.

I recall watching the Episode 1 scenes with Hastings, for example, and I thought, oh no BOB or something like him has infected this guy who blacked out on a killing rampage and it immediately evoked corollaries to Leland in my mind.  Even if we find he was later possessed and implicated in Ruth's death, his talk with Tammy seems to have dispelled that connection and the 'reality' of what he said happened was nothing like my initial thoughts.

Things are not what they seem (especially when you're intentionally deprived of enough information to draw proper conclusions).

I think Diane is in an extremely difficult, complicated situation and it's impossible to draw any hard-and-fast conclusions about her. To say that her apparent correspondence with Evil Coop means that she's absolutely on his side is over-simplistic. She has a lot from both Cooper and the FBI to be resentful about. And I think her total absence in person in this episode was significant in that regard: We don't know where she is. We don't know where her allegiances lie, if indeed she has any.

I think I'll follow Gordon's advice about Diane: "Keep her close." Keep an eye on her in future episodes. That's all we can do at the moment.

I remember thinking at the time, when I saw Gorndon and Diane hug, when she has a drink and says "Cheers to the FBI", there is the slighted flicker of a smile there. Did anyone else notice this?

I genuinely think the actual answer can't be guessed with this one. It'll be a lynchian oddity!

I took that as shot nerves. Like when a person laughs during a funeral. Diane was a pure bundle of nerves, as anyone would be in that situation.

In this case will Cole/Albert eventually be able to track it back to that farm, since probably all signal origins are logged, saved and tracked even if the phone is destroyed?  Certainly the secondary server would log the origin, or a satellite would?

I have to say I was deeply moved by the scene with Diane and Gordon, such tenderness, and I was totally fooled or sold on it being genuine. It made me wonder how easily led I am by intelligent and beautiful women. I hope there's a goodness in her or the real Diane. I'm feeling pretty challenged by this now she's communicating information back to Mr C.

🙁

I still say a fingerprint check will be yrev, very revealing.  FWIW, I think she's the real deal.
