the clue is in episode 17 where you see sarah smashing lauras photograph, the final episode they return to lauras home, she has no recollection before of seeing the home, when she reaches the home and her mother is no longer there but a new resident it all floods back to her, it was her mother that killed her, simple as.......

she told cooper it was her mother that killed her not her father, i have come to the conclusion that leyland had an unhealthy obsession with his daughter laura, sarah could not take it anymore

Is your keyboard broken or do you think that her mother killed her 14 times?

You're supposed to read them all simultaneously in sync.

"Whisper" is clear, and is in the closed captioning. As for the rest, I am so grateful for your efforts, Mark! I am rewatching from the beginning (AGAIN!?) and this was torturing me a bit today.

If it says "whisper" in the closed captioning I think it is a description of what is going on not the content...the same as close captioning saying "humming sound"  or "sad music" in some cases.

If Sheryl Lee actually says "whisper" then I suspect her script just said that she is supposed to whisper something into Dale's ear without giving her anything specific to say and she just said "whisper" for lack of anything better. Sort of like in old radio dramas crowds would just repeat "rhubarb" to make a crowd sound.

If Lynch didn't intend for audiences to know what she said there is no reason to have her say anything in particular.

I have various theories on this given what happened at the end ;

  1. Laura is telling Coop that her mother killed her, or
  2. Laura is telling Coop that Judy is her mother, or
  3. Laura is telling Coop that he cannot save her however many times he tries

We will never know, but I'm fine with that.

That's a good theory!

But we were shown Leland turning into Bob and we saw him in the gaol with Bob inside him....?

Waldo, in case you haven't figured this out yet (I just became aware of it), there is a disembodied voice that whispers "Whisper!" just as Laura is about to whisper in Dale's ear—you may have to turn the volume up pretty loud to hear it.

My hunch is that she is telling Cooper that everything he has done in this timeline/reality has had the opposite effect and has made things worse. Much much worse than can possibly be imagined.

At the end of FWWM, Cooper is standing proudly next to Laura as she sees the angel. Laura finds peace having prevented bob from possessing her. She died, but she is at peace "with the angels".

This could not happen in the new timeline. She was taken away, and we do not and will likely never know what life for her would have been like in the new reality. She also would not have acted as a conduit of love for Bobby Briggs, Dr Jakoby, Ben Horne and James Hurley. The absence of laura (no finality/death) may have ruined many lives and created more evil in twin peaks. We assume she was created by the fireman to combat/trap black lodge entities. Maybe cooper has reversed this.

That's my theory anyway 🙂
