Hello, I live in a ghost town in NM with 11 residents and my fiancé refuses to watch Twin Peaks, so lacking open ears I was just hoping to share this with some people who might appreciate it.  You probably all remember the feeling of falling in love with this show, for me it happened fairly recently and was accompanied with some random coincidences.  Being the kind of show it is this has made the experience all the more fun!  Ok, on to my story.

I never watched the show when it originally aired.  However I lived outside Seattle at the time and visited snoqualamie falls with my family etc.  I remember the buzz about the show in the town....I remember a jr. high teacher asking the class if anyone was watching it remarking how "crazy" and "good"it was.

A few years later around 93 we were living in the Sacramento area.  I was about 15 and my buddy and I went to this lake and were gold panning of all things.  Suddenly a line of trucks with "Paramount" on the side pulled up behind us on the small dirt road.  Simultaneously a bunch of boats cruised up in front of us making a horseshoe shape to apparently block access to the area. A group came ashore and said they were filming a scene for a TV movie and since we were there first we were welcome to stay and watch.

One of the crew, this kind of a sleazy looking but friendly little guy started talking to us.  He said the movie was called "Spring Awakening" and asked us if we'd ever heard of Sherilyn Fenn.  We hadn't.  He said she was in Twin Peaks etc. and added as he dashed off "wait till you this babe, she gorgeous man....f#%*in gorgeous!,"  So out of one of the trucks walks Sherilyn Fenn decked out in a big fancy Victorian dress.  She was indeed gorgeous!  We watcher her run down a hill and then collapse at the bottom crying etc.  she did this about ten times!  After filming a bunch of the crew including Ms. Fenn walked past us at the lake shore to get on a boat to leave.  As she walked briskly past us she was fanning herself with one of those battery powered fans as the sleazy guy held an umbrella over her for shade.  In passing sleazy guy looked at us giving us an exaggerated wink nodding his head like he was the man...haha classic!  I squeaked out "Hi Miss Fenn" in my awkward teenage voice but she didn't even look my way.

So fast forward till about 3 months ago I was living outside Portland OR, I saw that Twin Peaks the Return was coming out and the series had always been in the back of my mind for the above reasons so I thought Id start watching the original.  I absolutely loved it!  By the time I got to season two we moved to this little ghost town in NM for a gig to help keep up the place etc.  initially we had no phone, no internet, no twin peaks!

Theres a slightly bigger town up the road a ways and we were asked to join the volunteer fire dept. as most of the crew is getting older.  We went to a meeting and as I was sitting there I looked up and sitting on a shelf next to some fire helmets was a twin peaks hat!  This struck me as odd but didn't think too much of it and didn't ask anyone about it.

A week or so later we finally got internet and that night I resumed watching TP. The next day the old guy I work for took me to the dump in his old military vehicle to unload some garbage etc.  on the way back we drove by this cool old adobe structure, it had ornate weathered metal work and deer antlers hanging on the front. I asked about the history of the building which my boss shared and then added, the last people who lived there were two writers from that show twin peaks.  I said "no way!  I just watched that show last night!!"  I mean what's the chances in such a remote place!?  He didn't remember their names,  he said they were a couple and that they lived here a couple years.  One funny thing he added was I guess the building didn't have electricity or plumbing when they bought it.  He said after they left he considered buying it, when he went inside it was still one big open room with a makeshift kitchen in the corner and a toilet smack down in the middle out in the open!

So I've finished the original and started watching the return.  The other day I was watching part 8 which is obviously a very moving and mind bending episode.  When the atomic bomb scene started at first I thought "cool, were right near white sands" Then I realized whoa! today is July 16th!!

So anyways that's my story.  I thought it is cool to have random coincidental connections to such a crazy show that I love!  Hope I didn't bore you to death.  ~J

True! I do need to get the set someday for just such situations. However, at the time I had no way to procure  the dvd's being hours from a large enough town and having no internet or phone.  It's actually a great experience being cutoff from the outside world for awhile, I highly recommend it!
