Im a big fan of Darren Aronofsky's work, specifically The Fountain and Pi, the former if which I'm going to stick on TV tonight to enjoy my 20th or so odd viewing as it happens!

I was just wondering if there are any other Aronofsky fans. I saw the trailer for his new film which seems to have elements of horror in it.

I thought I'd post on here as there are some parallels on here with Lynch and Aronofsky in my opinion. Very different, but very strong on the cinematography and long-shot side.

Requiem for a dream is one of my favorite movies !  Very surrealistic scenes and depressing. It hits you in the stomach and you will remember some scenes for the rest of your life. I also liked The Wrestler and black swan. Noah was a disappointment for me but i'm looking forward to Mother ( with Jennifer Lawrence) but i think it will be a regular thriller, not a winner.

P.S  Pi and The Fountain where also great 😉

Not seen anything except Pi, which I thought was superb.  The others sound like the kind of thing I could go for.

Just to throw another name out there, how about Peter Greenaway?  Haven't seen his stuff for too long.  An amazing writer and director.

"The Pillow Book" is one my favorite movies ever. Haven't seen it in a long time. Also love 8 1/2 Women e some of his earlier stuff. Very powerful imagery in Greenway's work. Like Lynch he is also a painter and his films very influenced by painting.

Love Requiem. Can one ever unhear those violins, etc.? I ended up explaining the end to a blind woman who was seated in the front row, as there's barely any dialogue for the last ten minutes and she had no real idea of what happened. Interesting experience that was.

The book is great as well. Had a chance to attend a Hubert Shelby Jr. reading prior to his death.

I have watched Black Swan which I loved.  Haven't seen anything else of his but Mother looks good so I will give that a watch.

Anyone watch Mother! yet? I'm probably won't be able to check it out until next weekend.
