I was chatting with another TP fan the other day and we started getting all nostalgic about the characters, who we loved the most, who we hated the most, who we loved to hate the most, etc.

Then we accidentally started talking about who we missed the most (and things got a little sad).

I miss Carl the most.  He wasn't necessarily my favorite character (Sarah is my #1), although definitely in my top 5.  But I miss him the most.  He was that spot of good in the terrible dimension of Twin Peaks and all its tragic and horrid inhabitants. And I think this is only deepened by the death of HDS and knowing that we will never again see Carl except in retrospect.

Anyhow, who do you love, hate, love to hate, and/or miss the most?

I think I will miss having no more new moments to share with the Log Lady. Rewatching the original series now, and looking back at her beautiful monologues in The Return, and the utterly moving way the show said goodbye to her, she really was the heart of Twin Peaks. Coop is the soul, or the battle for that soul, but Margaret Lanterman was the heart.

RIP Catherine Coulson x

Absolutely agree with that. I will miss her too.  🙁

What I really miss is the thrill of sitting in the dark, headphones on, to enjoy an hour of pure magic. Week after week. I miss that a lot.

Too right. It really was an event that you very much looked forward to each week - a bit like experiencing good TV in the 'olden days' ?

It is unfortunate and with a saddened heart that I will eternally miss the entire cast of season 2 (with a few exceptions like Dick Tremayne and Windom Earle) because it seems like things have run their course.

I think I will miss Norma the most, her smile and demeanor in the Double R ALWAYS fixed my mood with the story.  She was always a ray of hope in the chaotic world of Twin Peaks.

In a moment of facepalm I finally connected that Steven's ho-bag girlfriend is Donna's sister, Gertrude.  The redhead who plays the piano so well.  You'd think I would know my redheads.   And that dovetails exactly into what I miss - though not a thing that I would trade out; I miss the innocence.  The innocence of the town of Twin Peaks, the innocence of all the young people with everything in front of them and how that matured into failing health, and resignations to loss, and darker days.  Even our own innocence for not having yet seen The Return - it was all exciting and awaiting, but now it's been seen, been parsed, and found its home in the hall of memories.  But I wouldn't trade it.
