Did you watch Person of Interest?  That's the only other programme I got seriously hooked on.  Just as it seems to settle into a routine, things start to get more complex...
It's also got some of the best female characters ever!  🙂

POI was good when it started but it lost it's way and just became as predictable and dull as an NCIS episode for the last few seasons.

Oh no!  The bad guys have found us!  Let's run and hide, then have a shootout with them, beat them and then make it back to to hidden base.

Shame, because it had a lot of potential as a show.

Yes, everyone should definitely check out Mr Robot as it is an awesome show with lots of hidden things in it to keep you thinking and occupied.

My favourite show after TP

About to stick on Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (remake). Cracking film.

One of my favorite movies.  The British production was the gold standard of the TTSS story though, imo.  The movie was also wonderful; love the gray and chilling feel of the whole thing - it must have been similar to how those involved in espionage game saw the world back then.  We are amidst of the next phase of a Cold War that never ended right now, we foolishly fancied it all went away when the wall came down.  Makes the movie very revalent to today's dangerous world.

I'm not feeling it too badly to be honest. I'm easily distracted when I watch stuff, except with Twin Peaks. People, my phone, my cat, they can all go away whilst I watch.

Other TV shows, film and sport allow me time to daydream, check Twitter or whatever. Credit to Lynch & Frost that they created something so absorbing & deep, plus TPTR rewards multiple viewings. With no other TV show (even The Wire, my 'best' ever) have I felt the need to sit and rewatch something I saw 24 hours ago. I guess because it really demands my attention and captures the imagination, I have a slightly different mindset.

It's still hard to let go though, it's 23:45 on a Saturday and I'm sat on a Twin Peaks forum listening to Julee Cruise.

Maybe we should start a Mr. Robot thread in the off topics while we all wait for the final dossier.  🙂

I'm also quite curious how Rami Malek will do as Freddie Mercury.

You guys are amazing!  Thanks for all the recommendations. My list continues to grow.  Season 2 of American Gods is a LONG way off and I blew through season 1 way too fast.

Caoi, we have fairly similar taste in movies.

I wonder what Pieter watches when he isn't watching us.............

The visuals in American Gods is incredible, and Gillian Anderson killed it as David Bowie.

Agree with the other posters about Mr Robot. it's really good. Some viewers complained that season 2 was slow. Makes me wonder what they'd think of The Return lol.

Gilliam's "Twelve Monkeys"

"Ex Machina"

Dittos on both.

Kurosawa's "Dreams" (Not his best film, but nice intro to his work and FWIW - some dreams are better than others.)

Some of the most beautiful cinematography ever.  🙂

Indeed and really got me interested in the landscape and countryside of Japan (most especially the dream with the orchard). Not to mention, it was a nice respite after viewing "Tetsuo: the Iron Man" a few months before Dreams was released. Haha.

Since 12 Monkeys was brought up, has anyone tried the show?

I've not but all the recent Gilliam talk has reminded me of another film that I loved upon release and need to revisit: "The City of Lost Children."

What you got for me?

I was going to suggest Fellini's 8 1/2 as someone else already has.  Much of Fellini work is brilliant.

Additionally, Try The Holy Mountain, by Alejandro Jodorowsky.  Some unbelievable  surrealism awaits you and the visuals/soundtrack takes you on dark Lynchian journeys.

Lynch and Jodorowsky were actually going to make a movie together in the last 10 years, but the deal fell through unfortunately.  I think it was going to be called King Shot.

While you check out Jodorowsky films, see Fando Y Lis and Santa Sangre.  🙂
