In the special features of FWWM Sheryl Lee mentions hearing the crew trying to get a monkey to bounce on a trampoline. It seems obvious then that they wanted the monkey jumping around like The Jumping Man. It's interesting to consider when you think about the various connections between Sarah, the Jumping Man, and Judy in season 3.

Lol, or maybe they just wanted to see a monkey jumping on a trampoline.  I'd pay to see that.  😉

Detective/Moderator Brandy Fisher! Wow Brandy, Wow!

Lol, I think its less "wow" and more  a testament to just how much time I spend on this forum and our sudden surge of bots and how I suspect Pieter is not getting paid to spend hours and hours and hours of his life deleting spam.

In the FWWM scene where Philip Gerard screams at Leland / Bob about stealing the corn, he refers to it as being canned. He also says something along the lines of "she wasn't happy when she found out" or something - which now sounds that he's referring to Judy, who's not happy that Bob took her Garmonbozia.

Oooh... I've finally begun listening to Darren Franech and Doc Jensen's final Twin Peaks podcast and they are talking about this!!

One of them posits that it was MIKE calling Mr. C in Part 1 because MIKE and the Black Lodge (presumably Judy) want BOB back. In FWWM, BOB was selfish, hoarding some garmonbozia for himself. So MIKE* would be mad at him. And for all this time that BOB's been with Mr. C, he has (maybe) been out of the Black Lodge entirely, never bringing back the garmonbozia of his victims. .... Perhaps this is why Mr. C has so much packed up to puke out when his car flips.

*So is MIKE a good guy or a bad guy? Or both? The earthly form, Gerard, certainly seems good, but I guess the Black Lodge MIKE is still the old evil partner of BOB. Who exactly did we see helping Cooper all along the way in the Return? Has Gerard gone into the Red Room purposefully to learn its ways and help Cooper (maybe like an FBI agent going in on purpose)? Who knows?!?! But we never saw Gerard on Earth in TPTR; only saw him in dream visions.

I had this idea back around the time only the first four episodes were out, when I noticed that he was credited as Philip Gerard in the credits. Part of the idea is what you mentioned; that it is Mike on the phone in that hotel scene. The other part of the idea was that maybe the relation between Mike and Gerard is more like that between Mr C and Cooper, and only one of them can be out of the lodge at a time or something like that. But we didn't get any more to work with there, and I ultimately decided it doesn't hold up.

It could still be Mike on the phone, or Jeffries, or maybe Jeffries has a doppelganger? But I have been tending toward thinking it is the Experiment, which I also take to be a manifestation of Judy, and what is possessing Sarah Palmer. That is based primarily on two lines. 1) "I will be with Bob again" and 2) "I missed you in New York." - The latter also opens up some interesting questions about the relation between Coop and Mr C, if I am right.

According to Twin Peaks Wiki:

Whereas BOB is seen both in his "true" guise (Frank Silva) and as Leland Palmer (Ray Wise), MIKE has, to date, seemingly only appeared in the form of his host Phillip Gerard. Strobel is credited as "Phillip Gerard" in Twin Peaks (2017), and the name "MIKE" is not mentioned at any point in the series.

So...it seems it was Gerard all along (in the Return). Something I must say I hadn't noticed. Interesting... Would this choice mean that Lynch and Frost were trying to emphasize the benevolent nature of the character?

Edit: Sorry Cameron. Cross posts.?

Real quick: Yes, we do have some questions about Coop and Mr C. I don't think they're totally separate beings. They're probably more of a Lynchian duality, two very opposite sides of the same coin.  ????

Where's the Fireman to explain it all for us?

Maybe he already did at the end of season 2: "One and the same" (?)

If I wanted this explained properly, I think the last person I'd ask is the Fireman.

Major Briggs, that's who I'd ask.

In terms of the Philip Gerard / Mike question: another interesting part of the FWWM script is that when The Arm is introduced, he's credited as "The Man From Another Place (Mike)." I therefore think the Mike part of Gerard is entirely in The Arm.
