C'mon Jerry, you THINK you're high???

A seasoned pro like Jerry would know. Previously, we've seen him blasted out of his mind, and seemingly capable of dialing it back to reality if need be. Yea, I think he'd know whether or not he was high... and that got me to thinkin' ... uh-oh

- our friend, Jerry, has just returned from the 'Red Room/waiting room' ... I won't be shocked if he soon discovers he's been branded with a strange symbol and has an uncontrollable urge to carry around a log   bundle of hemp or a giant mushroom.

I admit to being 'LOST-er' than Jerry in the woods when it comes to Lodge-ology, but doesn't there seem to be a constant theme dealing with balance between Black/White Lodges?

I thought this too about Jerry. It was the opening scene of the episode and it seemed more ominous than a comic relief segment.  And yeah, he gets high regularly. Why would he be freaking out? I would only freak out if I ate a ton of edibles. You're right...Jerry should be a pro stoner.

Agree..If he did enter the Lodge..it's probably easier for him to reconcile the idea of being high then the idea that what he saw  (the red room/ Leland?/ Laura....) was real. I must admit I half expected to see something as the camera pans the woods..who knows maybe its there and I missed it.

anyway, what's he doing in the woods? And he's been there awhile, since he watched Jacoby's "show" from there too. I think having been in a Lodge may be stretching it a bit too far, but the woods alone may mean something

yes, Lodge is a bit of a stretch. But I think Jerry was taken by some spiritual force like Margaret, Carl Rodd and another classmate were back in 1947.  During that encounter, she got the small pattern on the back of her leg. So, my hope is that Jerry will assume the role of our new spiritual messenger. If White/Black, Good/Evil are in a tug-of-war, White sure could use some help to replace Major Briggs and LogLady.

anyway, thanks for the feedback

I was thinking about that scene, and about Lynch's recurrent motif of people morphing into different ones (more explicitly in Lost Highway, but also present in Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire).

Jer says his car is gone. The truck Richard drove would fit the stoner-hippie-explorer personality Jerry seems to have become. He's disoriented and disturbed, possibly clashing with weird memories / flashes which he can't quite understand (the ones of meeting a supernatural dealer and running over a kid, for example). I like the hypothesis of Jerry entering the Lodge (who wouldn't be thrilled to be there while stoned, right?), but I was thinking about a weirder Idea: What if Richard Horne exists as a projection of Jerry? A kind of Mr. Hyde inside him, or the same weird shit with Pete Dayton and Fred in Lost Highway... Another person who takes over and changes both his appearance and his personality?

Jer is only seen briefly, always consuming Cannabis, which could act as a gateway for the Richard persona to come in and take over. Richard doesn't sound like a Twin Peaks resident when he's describing the town to Red. I imagined he was Jerry's son, who arrived with his dad recently and started to put his nose (literally) on whatever's happening around the Chinese drug and the Canadian border. But since we had no dialogue whatsoever between Ben and Jerry about Richard, I suppose this hypothesis loses force. This, along with Jerry's scene in the woods, made me wander about this weird but Lynchian possibility. What do you guys think?

Now, some final considerations... Could he just be Audrey's son? For sure, and this could explain the lack of dialogue about him between Ben and Jerry, since they could be barely in touch with the kid, especially if Audrey moved away from Twin Peaks. So he could be Audrey's. Do I want this to be true? Of course not! Is my far-fetched theory just a product of my mind trying to run from this possibility? Possibly. But this is nevertheless a staple of David Lynch since LH, and could be a fantastically weird thing to happen to the Twin Peaks universe.

What do you guys think?

Cheers Bruno! I really really want to love this line of thought>>> "...but I was thinking about a weirder Idea: What if Richard Horne exists as a projection of Jerry?" and "...always consuming Cannabis, which could act as a gateway for the Richard persona to come in and take over"  <<< and you could actually be on to something; but I want/need Jerry to be a good doobie!

Hey, Dragonarse. How are you doin' fellow? So, I swear it was just "damn good coffee" what was in my system while thinking about this theory. And about Jer being a 'good doobie', even if Richard is indeed a transformation of Jerry's, this doesn't make the old stoner a bad person. At least not any more than Pete Dayton can play the sax or Fred Madison can repair car engines. They just morph into each other, but are complete separate consciousnesses.
