It's been speculated on some Reddit threads that Audrey is still in a Coma and that whole scene was conjured up in her mind. Replace Charles with Ben and Billy with Cooper or Zane's character. Interesting theory. Thoughts?

The whole scene was completely independent of anything else that has gone on in the series, the only possible link is in a name, Billy, that was mentioned in the RR scene in Episode 7(?).  So I wouldn't rule out that this is going on in Audrey's head. (If so, there's some serious self-loathing going on.)

Also, she always thought of her father as a "little man" and in that scene a little man was behind the desk. She kept saying he had no balls, something she probably always wanted to say to Ben.

It's definitely an interesting theory. I think a lot of viewers are hoping she's in a coma simply because they do not like the position Lynch/Frost have presented to them. I personally don't think she is in a coma as IMO it could convolute the story but you never know.

Now that is interesting.

And am I imagining this, or in the original series is there a scene where Ben says to Audrey "I'm tired Audrey".

I'm still not 100% sold to the idea. But it is interesting.

Ya not sold either but definitely interesting and would explain a few things such as all the people mentioned we don't know. Also, it explains why she just shows up and isn't really introduced or foreshadowed. Lastly, it explains why she, nor he never moves even though she's desperate to leave and why we never get a resolution to the phone call because dreams are just like that.

It's interesting. There's a part of me that thinks it's a bit too unoriginal. "she was in a coma all along" has been done too many times in TV and film IMO.

And it would add up that Ben never mentioned or even thought to mention to call Audey after being told about her Richard killing that boy and nearly killing that other lady (I'm clearly blanking her name right now)

Just to play devils advocate, here's a few reasons why Ben might not want to contact Audrey:

1 - she doesn't want anything to do with Richard. Ben has taken on the role of father although he refers himself as grandfather.

2 - Audrey isn't fit to be a mother, for reasons that may become apparent.

3 - he did think to contact Audrey, he just didn't say it out loud.

Edit - or 4, Audrey isn't Richard's mother.

I know right? Every TV show has a "coma" episode. Could this be Lynch's way of ridiculing it in an original way though?

Interesting idea.  It would differ from the usual it-was-just-a-dream stuff in that we seem to be getting a number of clues that it is a dream, rather than getting set up to be fooled later.

I'm going to start sounding like a broken record as I've said this a few times recently, but...

With this series, anything is possible. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if it all turns out to be a bad Jerry trip 😀

On a rewatch after thinking about this theory, all the tech in the room, especially  the phone are  things Audrey could have know about at the time she went into the coma (early 90s?).

Look at all the old file type things on that little chaps desk...why would a modern day business man be portrayed on a TV show set in 2016, have that type of desk technology?

There was a strange purgatorial quality about the whole scene. As a matter of fact, I don't think either Audrey or Charlie even moved from their spots the whole time. It was a constant bickering that ended up accomplishing absolutely nothing (which I found fascinating by the way). The mention of contract makes me think that perhaps Audrey bargained for her life through a supernatural force. The actor playing Charlie has an unusual build which to me denotes that Lynch chose him to signify an otherworldly being. And much like the supposed "they can still hear you even when you're in a coma" tale, her knowledge of the current world is still based on hearsay. The absence of Richard in her conversation and the absence of mention of Audrey previously in the conversation between Ben and Sheriff Truman is suspicious.

Do rotary phones even work on modern landlines anymore? I was under the impression that they were rendered obsolete when dial tones became the standard.
